Clean Soils Services receives liquid industrial waste and hydrovac material at its Comstock Road facility. The Lab Technician runs the on-site analysis that determines whether a load is accepted, how it is classified, and how it is billed. Trucks wait on the result, and the receiving report the technician completes is the record the manifest, the invoice and the compliance file to rely on.

Clean Soils plans to expand into a fuel-blending laboratory within the next one to two years. The successful candidate willhelp build that capability, including calorimetry, titration and compatibility testing.

Key responsibilities:

Perform routine sample preparation and analysis on incoming loads using ICP-OES and GC-MS.

Operate auxiliary laboratory equipment as required, including bomb calorimeter, auto titrator and Karl Fischer titration,and sample drums for compatibility testing.

Sample inbound trucks, label by truck, time and waste class code, and return a clearance decision to operations.

Complete receiving reports, including pH and solids content, accurately and on the day of receipt.

Classify material against the facility's Environmental Compliance Approval and flag anything outside the approved wasteclasses.

Maintain calibration, quality-control and maintenance records for all instrumentation.

Prepare and track sample submissions to third-party laboratories,



and review returned certifi cates of analysis.

Maintain manifest and analytical records to the standard required for regulatory inspection.

Order and manage laboratory consumables and sample containers; general laboratory housekeeping and other duties asassigned.

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

Hands-on ICP-OES experience required. GC-MS experience strongly preferred.

Experience with bomb calorimetry, Karl Fischer or automatic titration, or fuel-blending compatibility testing is an asset.

Experience in a waste, environmental, water treatment or contract analytical laboratory is an asset.

Working knowledge of Ontario liquid industrial waste classifi cation, manifesting and TDG is an asset; training will beprovided.

Competent with Microsoft Offi ce, particularly Excel.

Accurate, methodical, and comfortable making a documented call under time pressure.

Able to work independently with minimum supervision, and to communicate a result clearly to operations staff by radio.

Safety conscious. Available for morning and afternoon shifts as required, with occasional overtime and weekends.

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
