Literacy Instructor

Sound Connections Literacy and Language Centre is looking for an exceptional Literacy Instructor to work one-on-one with children and their families. Our programs provide structured, multi-sensory literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.

The Position

This position will begin part-time, with the potential to grow into a full time position.

Our preference is for an applicant who is ultimately willing and able to work consistently approximately 6–7 hours per day, 5 days per week. This schedule must include evenings and at least 6–7 hours on the weekend, most likely on Sundays.

We are only considering applicants who have flexibility in their schedules and are able to accommodate these requirements.

We are looking for someone interested in a long-term commitment, as our instructors receive significant training and become highly skilled in our specialized programs.

The position is primarily in person, although some services may be provided online.

Qualifications

Applicants must be qualified or working toward a relevant qualification, such as:

- Educational Assistant
- Bachelor of Psychology
- Speech Sciences
- Science of Reading
- Child Studies
- Education
- Or another relevant field

Full training is provided. Our programs must be followed strictly and consistently.

Ideally, candidates will have experience working with children who have a range of learning or other needs. However, previous experience is not always required if the candidate has the right personality, attitude, and ability to connect with children.

Transportation

Your own reliable transportation is required, as the position will likely involve working at multiple locations.
