Hybrid, Toronto $150k–$160k base + 22% incentive The largest bank in Canada is seeking a Design Director to lead design strategy and execution for a suite of investment products. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape the future of how Canadians invest.

You'll champion a design culture that drives innovation, elevates user experience, and differentiates in a competitive market. You'll own the end-to-end design function, from strategy and product design to user research and design systems.

What you'll do

- Lead the design vision across the team by collaborating with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and Marketing to translate insights into business outcomes
- Mentor and scale a team of 8–10 designers across UX, UI, research, and content design, overseeing design for web, mobile, and emerging platforms
- Champion rigorous user research and testing to inform product decisions
- Lead AI adoption in design, executing a strategy for leveraging AI tools to enhance ideation, streamline workflows, and improve design efficiency across the team
- Create scalable, maintainable design systems and standards that accelerate delivery

What you'll bring

- 10+ years of design leadership experience, with 5+ years in a director or equivalent role




- Deep knowledge of the investing and wealth management industry, including market dynamics, regulatory considerations, investor behaviours, and competitive landscape
- An active investor with hands-on experience managing a self-directed portfolio
- A clear vision for AI adoption in design, and comfort experimenting with and scaling current tools across design, prototyping, research, and ideation
- A strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, leadership outcomes, integrated user research, and measurable impact
- An exceptional communicator who can influence senior stakeholders
