Samaritan House Ministries is recruiting for an Employment Officer -1 full-time contract position, 35 hours/week.Monday ? Friday 8:30 am ? 4:30 pm.
Purpose of Position:The Employment Officer will work directly with job seekers, helping them to make informed decisions and take effective action to improve their employability with the goal of integrating into the labour market.The successful candidate will also be required to work with employers and community organizations, and facilitate group-based workshops.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Build client-centered/cooperative relationships providing ongoing employment supports
- Provide job search, resume and interview skills assistance and workshops
- Network with other agencies, employers and other resources
- Aid clients in employment maintenance
- Client case management
- Provide access to Industry, Training and Employment Services programs
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to utilize effective communication skills
- Effective facilitation skills and the ability to develop and deliver employment-related workshops using adult learning principles
- Post-secondary education or equivalent background in business, education, or social services is an asset
- Demonstrated competence and/or training and experience in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, basic internet use)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; oral presentations required
- Attention to detail, organization skills, prioritization, effective time management, interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to adapt to change effectively and efficiently
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work-load and client case load
- Working knowledge of Industry, Training and Employment Services programs and services will be considered an asset.
