About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an independent mother living in her own home in Tecumseh, Windsor. She maintains an active lifestyle—driving, cooking, keeping house, and even traveling to Toronto and visiting the casino. She also cares for her adult son who has special needs and is on the autism spectrum.

While she's fully capable in her daily activities, recent health concerns (a hospital visit due to dehydration) and distance from family in Toronto have highlighted the need for occasional support and companionship. This is the family's first time receiving qualified care, and the mother is initially hesitant about having someone in the home, so building trust and rapport will be essential.

Responsibilities:

This role focuses primarily on companionship and light support. The caregiver will check in on the mother, provide friendly conversation, and offer reassurance. No personal care, meal preparation, medication management, cleaning, or transportation is required—the mother handles all of these independently.

The goal is to provide peace of mind for the family and help address concerns about safety, memory changes, and loneliness. The caregiver should be observant and communicate any concerns to the family.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal caregiver is patient, warm, and makes the mother feel comfortable. Strong communication skills are essential, both with the client and her family.

Experience supporting family caregivers and working with individuals who have cognitive or memory changes is valuable.



The caregiver should respect the mother's independence while providing gentle support. Fluency in English or Italian is required. A calm, positive presence who can build trust over time is critical, as the mother is initially resistant to receiving care.

Schedule:

We're starting with two mornings per week—Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (two-hour visits). The schedule may adjust based on the family's needs and the mother's comfort level. Flexibility is appreciated as the family explores what works best.
