Job title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Contract duration: 03 months
Location: Toronto, ON (3 days onsite)
Degree/Level of Education: Paralegal Diploma, Legal Assistant Diploma, Law Clerk Diploma, or equivalent legal education preferred.
Years of Overall Experience: 4+ years of experience in a legal, paralegal, law clerk, loan documentation, or secured lending environment.

Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background:

- Law firm experience
- Commercial lending or secured lending experience
- Experience with PPSA and/or UCC filings
- Strong Excel skills
- Paralegal or legal assistant background

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Review loan and deal documentation.
- Identify and validate collateral filings.
- Review PPSA filings in Canada.
- Review UCC filings in the United States.
- Extract and track filing information in Excel.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting logs.
- Support collateral tracking initiatives and project deliverables.

MUST-HAVE HARD SKILLS

- Knowledge of PPSA filings (Canada) and/or UCC filings (United States).
- Strong Excel proficiency and exceptional attention to detail.
- Previous experience working in a law firm, legal department, or related legal setting.




- Experience reviewing legal, loan, financing, or collateral documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

NICE-TO-HAVE

- Paralegal certification or diploma.
- Experience supporting secured lending, commercial lending, or collateral management functions.
- Exposure to both Canadian and U.S. collateral filing processes.
