Westridge Iron is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join their team in Vernon, BC. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close activities across the organization’s entities.
Roles and Responsibilities
- General Accounting & Month-End Support
- Track and code project related expenses by job.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly LEM reports.
- Pull WorkSafe Clearance letters.
- Assist with intercompany accounting and bank reconciliations (8+ companies).
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures (8+ companies).
- Assist with payroll admin (DPSP/RRSP and benefit enrollments).
- Maintain fixed asset schedules.
- Assist with variance analysis.
- Assist with audit prep and documentation requests.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare financial reports for the Controller.
- Provide general admin support to the finance department (AR and AP support).
- Process AR credit applications, invoices and payment receipts.
- Support CRA and Provincial remittance filings.
- Support multi-company consolidation reporting and analysis.
- Administer insurance policies and renewals (certificates of insurance, claims support, renewal tracking).
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure transactions are processed in accordance with internal controls and company policy.
- Prepare and file monthly PST/GST returns and Income Tax Installments, for all entities.
- Support timely and accurate filing of applicable tax documentation (e.g., WCB/WSIB, T4A/1099 support).
- Flag discrepancies or irregularities to the Controller.
Requirements
- Post-secondary coursework in accounting, business, or finance an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping support role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

- Compensation: $78,000 – $82,000 annually, based on skill set and experience.
