We are currently seeking a Accountant to join our team. This position is a hybrid role.
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Role purpose: As a member of the Finance team, the Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounts payable maintenance, processing and payment, preparation and posting of journal entries and bank reconciliations.
Key accountabilities
- Completion of day-to-day accounts payable functions, including:
- recording of invoices in the accounting system
- preparation of accounts payable subledgers
- posting of payments
- sort, code and match invoices
- correspondence with vendors
- Processing and verification of employee expense reports
- Provide supporting documentation for annual audit
- Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and made on time
- Preparation and posting of journal entries as required from time to time
- Completion of month end intercompany, bank and credit card reconciliations
- Month, quarter and year end working paper preparation
Experience and qualifications
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and procedures
- Experience in Microsoft Excel, Quickbooks, Sage, Great Plains and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is not required but would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of the accounts payable function and general accounting procedures
- Diploma or degree in accounting or another related subject
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in an accounts payable or general accounting role would be considered an asset but not required
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: $40,000 - $60,000
