After-School STEAM Program Teacher

Schedule: Mondays and Thursdays, 3:00–6:00 p.m.

Pay: $20 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

Job Overview

Renewal Creations is seeking a reliable, energetic and caring After-School Program Teacher to lead children through engaging STEAM projects, creative activities and recreational play.

The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys working with children, takes initiative without needing constant direction and has strong classroom-management skills. You should be confident leading a group, maintaining clear expectations and creating a safe, positive setting where every child feels welcomed and engaged.

Curriculum, activity plans and program materials will be provided; however, the successful candidate must be organized, adaptable and prepared to take ownership of the classroom each day.

Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise children throughout the after-school program
- Deliver prepared STEAM lessons, hands-on projects, arts and crafts, and group activities
- Review activity plans in advance and arrive prepared to lead each session
- Take initiative in responding to the needs of the children and the classroom
- Maintain strong classroom management using positive and respectful guidance
- Ensure the safety, well-being and proper supervision of all children
- Support children’s social-emotional development, teamwork and conflict-resolution skills
- Manage attendance, dismissal and authorized parent or guardian pick-up
- Assist with snack distribution and maintain awareness of allergies and dietary restrictions
- Prepare activity materials and organize the classroom before each lesson




- Keep the program space clean, organized and welcoming
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff and Renewal Creations management
- Report any incidents, concerns or supply needs promptly
- Assist with special activities and program events when required

Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, recreational, camp or after-school setting
- Strong classroom-management and group-leadership skills
- Ability to take initiative, solve problems and work independently
- Genuine passion for helping children learn, create and build confidence
- Dependable, punctual, patient and responsible
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow lesson plans while adapting activities to meet the needs of the group
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Experience delivering STEAM, art or hands-on educational activities is an asset
