Career Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Apprentice, Relay and Instrument Technician. This position follows a 40- hour workweek with various shifts and off days. Come join our team!

What You Will Do
- Successfully completing a training program involving progressively more complex testing, maintenance, repair and calibration work on electrical, electronic and microprocessor equipped power control, safety, timing, recording and detection equipment
- Performing work involving the use of electronic test equipment and diagnostic procedures to determine the reason for faulty operation
- Performing major overhaul and modification work, as well as responding to emergency situations and capable of physical work some heavy as required
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest electrical/electronic instrumentation systems, and with the various equipment repaired by the section
- Must successfully complete the Training Department’s C.P.R., W.H.M.I.S., and Subway/SRT Rule Book Training program and pass all associated tests
- Must successfully complete The Training Department’s instruction for the operation of a TTC vehicle and pass all of the associated tests
- Must successfully complete the Subway Infrastructure Department’s training program for Substation Hazard Awareness
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer
What Skills and Qualifications Do You Bring
- You require an education normally obtained through the completion of a 2-year Community College Diploma in the field of Electronics and Electromechanical, or its equivalent
- You must have a valid non-probationary Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and in good standings.
- You must successfully pass the S/E/C Department’s electronic aptitude test as part of the selection process.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
- Note: Upon completion of the apprenticeship and successfully passing the associated examinations, the graduate will be classified as a Relay & Instrument Technician (Grade 1) in Wage Group 11.
