Core Responsibilities
Research and Grant Responsibilities
- Develop and pursue externally funded research in infectious diseases and allied areas, with an expectation of submitting competitive grant applications regularly and securing/maintaining at least one funded grant or equivalent research project each year, subject to funding agency timelines and decisions.
- Serve as Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator, as appropriate, and take responsibility for the scientific, administrative and fiscal management of grants, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, utilisation of funds, timely reporting, audits, compliance with funding-agency requirements and grant closure.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor and manage personnel appointed under research grants/projects; define responsibilities, monitor performance and ensure appropriate use of project human resources.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and contribute to manuscripts, reports, presentations, collaborative projects, conferences, workshops and other academic outputs of the Division, with an expectation of at least one peer-reviewed publication or substantive academic output each year.
- Ensure compliance with applicable institutional policies, research ethics, biosafety, data-management, quality and regulatory requirements relevant to assigned research activities.
Responsibilities Divisional And Administrative
- Support the Head of the Division in the academic, research, operational and managerial activities of the Division and undertake additional responsibilities assigned from time to time according to institutional and divisional needs.
- Provide diagnostic and laboratory support, when required, in areas relevant to the candidate’s qualifications, training and demonstrated competencies, in coordination with the Head of the Division and concerned laboratory/clinical teams.
- Represent the Division, when nominated, on institutional committees, administrative bodies, working groups, task forces and other academic or administrative assignments, and discharge the responsibilities associated with such appointments.
Academic, Training And Cooperative Responsibilities
- Organise and contribute to workshops, CMEs, training programmes, seminars and other academic activities in areas of expertise, and support capacity-building initiatives of the Division and Institute.
- Participate in teaching, training and mentorship of students, research scholars, fellows, project staff and other trainees, as applicable to the activities of the Division.
- Develop and maintain collaborations within SJRI/SJNAHS and with external academic, clinical, public-health and research partners, where relevant to the Division’s objectives.
Campus Presence
- The position is campus-based and requires regular physical presence at SJRI during prescribed working hours and as required for assigned responsibilities. Work-from-home arrangements will not be permitted for this position.
