Business Analyst II – Reporting & Analytics
Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Analyst II to support business reporting, analytics, and performance improvement initiatives in North York, Ontario.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into data to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what the business can do about it. The successful candidate will work with business partners and senior team members to analyze trends, identify performance improvement opportunities, and develop meaningful reports and dashboards that support business decisions.
The position requires a strong combination of business analysis, data analytics, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills, with hands-on experience using tools such as SQL, Power BI, Databricks, Tableau, SPSS, and/or Excel.
Location & Work Model
Location: North York, ON
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Core Hours: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
What You’ll Do
- Analyze business data to gain a deeper understanding of operational challenges, trends, and performance.
- Combine data analysis with business knowledge to identify meaningful insights that support business decisions and actions.
- Partner with senior team members to perform statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and root cause analysis.
- Identify trends and potential opportunities for business and performance improvement.
- Develop and maintain queries, reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable information for business stakeholders.
- Develop performance dashboards that help teams monitor key metrics and business outcomes.
- Support ad hoc reporting and analytical requests from internal clients.
- Investigate data and performance issues and help identify potential root causes.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients, business partners, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with relevant reporting, analytics, and data tools such as:
- SQL
- Power BI
- Databricks
- Tableau
- SPSS
- Microsoft Excel
- Experience creating queries, reports, dashboards, and business insights from data.
- Ability to analyze data, recognize trends, investigate problems, and communicate findings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues and work through business problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective client and vendor relationships.
Candidates should also meet one of the following experience/education combinations:
- Related university degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- 5+ years of previous field or work management operations experience, or
- An equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Operations, Customer Care, Engineering, and/or Asset Management.
- Experience working within a utility, energy, infrastructure,
or similarly complex operational environment.
- Understanding of work management and asset management systems and business processes.
- Experience working with operational or asset-related data.
- Exposure to statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
- Root cause analysis and continuous-improvement experience.
- Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.
What Will Make You Stand Out
The strongest candidates will be able to do more than simply build reports. We’re looking for someone who can take business data, identify the story behind it, recognize trends or problems, and turn those findings into actionable insights.
Experience combining SQL/data querying with Power BI or similar dashboarding tools will be particularly valuable, especially when paired with experience supporting operational, engineering, customer care, work management, or asset management teams.
