Tri-global Solutions Group Inc. is seeking one (1) Business Intelligence Analyst (Power BI) to join our talented Service Delivery team at Ministry of Technology and Innovation (Government of Alberta).

WORK MODEL: The successful candidate(s) will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings if required (possibly up to 15%). It is anticipated that this role will be 100% remote. Office is located in Edmonton, Alberta. Work must be done from within Canada at all times due to network and data security policies. Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada to apply (i.e., Canadian Citizen).

Standard

Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding observed holidays.

Data Strategy & Various Data Projects (Data Centre of Excellence Team)

Scope

The Artificial Intelligence, Data and Emerging Technologies Division uses a one-government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the Government of Alberta (GoA) balanced with individual client needs. This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication, and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.

The Data Centre of Excellence requires a resource to support the design and development of analytical data products & services to enable the GoA to better leverage its data assets support implementation of the GoA Data Strategy. Working within a team,



this position plays a fundamental role in ensuring high-quality data analysis, data modeling, development of data visualizations and development of evidence for use across departments and with external stakeholders. This role will enact the pillars of the Data Strategy by using data to benefit Albertans.

The successful candidate will be a Business Intelligence Analyst with a diverse range of analytical skills and experience in working in multi-faceted roles. The role may have aspects of any or all the following: data analysis, data modelling, statistical analysis, data governance, data science, data quality, advising, business analysis, data product design and delivery.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Provides hands-on business intelligence support on the strategic data initiatives that are being undertaken as part of the Data Strategy. A critical responsibility is to translate data into actionable business insights that support strategic decisions by creating dashboards, reports and business KPIs. Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities.

Works with Manager Analytics Capability Centre to:

- Deliver business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external client needs
- Develop data products based on various data sets
- Analyze data and prepare results
- Gather and document client requirements
- Design and develop data products
- Capture business and technical metadata for data products
- Perform data analysis, data quality audits/reviews, statistical analysis and data mining
- Develop and share data models and products
- Develop baseline and ongoing outcomes, key results, metrics, and other indicators.
- Apply skills to provide insights, support decision-making and facilitate strategic business planning
- Integrate both quantitative and qualitative data to create business insights
- Design and create dashboards and custom reporting with various data sources and inputs
- Escalate issues and risks, as appropriate
- Work within a multi-vendor/staff setting

MANDATORY SKILLS





– Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study equivalencies will be considered. (Yes or No)

– Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that transform regulated and complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations and executive reporting. (5 years+)

– Direct hands-on experience with a comprehensive set of visualization techniques and features that demonstrate both technical depth and storytelling skill using Power BI. (5 years+)

– Direct hands-on experience in analyzing large complex datasets to perform trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools. (5 years+)

– Experience in presenting and storytelling to effectively communicate data-driven insights to executives and business users within a government organization (or equivalent). (5 years+)

– Experience understanding and developing requirements for analytical projects. (5 years+)

DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

– Direct hands-on experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver end to end BI solutions. (5 years+)

– Experience combining raw data from a variety of data sources within and across domains. (5 years+)

– Experience dealing with clients and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner. (5 years+)

– Experience developing complex measures, calculated columns, advanced time intelligence using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in Power BI. (5 years+)

– Direct hands-on experience in SQL for data transformations querying, and analytical processing in large scale environments. (3 years+)

– Experience preparing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models. (5 years+)

– Experience working with large government datasets (or equivalent). (3 years+)
