Timber Framer – Modular Prefabrication

Position: Timber Framer – Modular Construction

We are assembling an experienced framing crew for a prefabricated timber modular construction project in British Columbia.

The prefabrication operation located in Squamish, BC, where timber-framed modules will be constructed in an on-site prefabrication facility. Completed modules will then be moved into position, stacked, connected, and incorporated into the building.

We are looking for experienced timber framers/carpenters, preferably with previous modular, panelized, or prefabricated timber construction experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret architectural, structural, shop, and modular fabrication drawings.
- Layout, measure, cut, and assemble timber wall, floor, and roof framing.
- Fabricate wall panels, floor assemblies, roof/ceiling assemblies, and complete timber modules.
- Install dimensional lumber, engineered wood products, blocking, backing, headers, and sheathing.
- Install structural connectors, hangers, straps, hold-downs, screws, bolts, and other specified framing hardware.
- Maintain accurate module dimensions, openings, elevations, and connection locations.
- Work within required tolerances to ensure modules align correctly when stacked and connected.
- Coordinate framing around windows, doors, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building services.
- Identify and correct framing or dimensional issues during fabrication.
- Assist with preparation, movement, stacking, alignment,



and connection of completed modules as required.
- Safely operate typical framing and carpentry tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication area.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable WorkSafeBC requirements.

Qualifications

- Previous professional experience in timber framing or wood-frame construction.
- Modular, panelized, or prefabricated timber construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with multi-storey wood-frame construction is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand construction and shop drawings.
- Strong understanding of wood framing methods and construction sequencing.
- Familiarity with dimensional lumber, plywood/OSB, LVL, LSL, I-joists, and other engineered wood products.
- Experience with structural connectors and fastening systems.
- Ability to perform accurate layout and maintain required construction tolerances.
- Comfortable working in a production-oriented prefabrication environment.
- Able to work independently and effectively as part of a framing crew.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Certification & Safety

- Red Seal Carpenter certification is an asset but not required.
- Relevant timber framing and modular/prefabrication experience will be strongly considered.
- WHMIS training required or provided as applicable.
- Fall Protection training required where applicable to assigned work.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- Forklift or telehandler certification is an asset.
- Additional project-specific safety training may be required.

Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in prefabricated timber modular construction, volumetric wood-frame modules, panelized construction, production framing, or multi-storey wood-frame construction.

The ideal candidate understands the accuracy, repeatability, sequencing, and quality control required for modular construction, where individual modules must fit together correctly when stacked and connected onsite.
