The Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC) builds healthy and engaged neighbourhoods by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change. ANHBC is the legal entity and umbrella organization made up of eight neighbourhood houses, an outdoor camp and central services. We operate more than 300 community-based programs and services for a diversity of participants. At ANHBC, we are committed to Reconciliation, Decolonization and Anti-racism. ANHBC is currently seeking qualified candidates who share ANHBC’s values to join our Kitsilano Neighbourhood House team. Neighbourhood houses are highly collaborative with a strong team framework. ABOUT YOU

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is looking for enthusiastic, mature, dedicated, and effective team member to work in our Childcare Programs for children aged 5-12 years old. The successful candidate will have excellent guiding and caring skills and the ability to work in a diverse, multicultural, and energetic environment. Your view of children and educators aligns with the ANHBC Childcare Approach. You believe children are capable, curious, and active participants in their learning, and you empower educators to create inclusive,

engaging, and responsive programs that reflect these values.

inspiring, and responsive to the needs of children and families.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Working as part of a collaborative team, the Childcare Educator- School Age fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment where children are recognized as capable co-contributors, and where learning unfolds through play, exploration,



and relationships. A Childhood Educator-School Age performs all of the following duties:

Curriculum Design

- Ensure curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place in the daycare
- Co-create programming with the staff team and children
- Use innovative methods for documentation and curriculum design such as the use of anecdotal observations, finished products, photographs, and written dialogue
- Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss program curriculum and work competencies
- Interact with children and staff to encourage their involvement in activities
- Have an understanding of typical developmental pathways

Safety

- Be informed of and follow all licensing regulations and requirements
- Use positive methods of discipline that is child-centered and respectful

- Classroom monitoring
- Ensure room is clean and toys are disinfected, furniture, equipment and toys are safe for children and cleaning products or medicines are kept where children cannot get to them

Community Culture

- Be available to connect families with community resources
- Establish and maintain team-oriented relationships with other community service providers
- Establish and maintain good communications with families
- Work collaboratively with volunteers and practicum students
- May be required to work in other Kits House childcare programs to ensure continuity of care & ensure licensing regulations are met
- Perform other duties (as needed)

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 1 year experience working with children aged 5 -12 years
- 20 hours of Childcare Training (in development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition)
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Minimum age 19 years (as per licensing regulations)




- RA or ECEA Certification an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role requires the ability to meet physical demands that may include walking, lifting, moving supplies, setting up tables and chairs, and supporting daily program and space needs.

HOURS & LOCATION

This is a Fixed Term Position from October 15th 2026 – November 30 2027 with opportunity to extend. 17.5 hours per week. 5-day workweek, including extending hours for School Pro D & Early dismissals days and seasonal camps. Requires consistent in-person presence at Dunbar Kids Club and other KNH sites.

SALARY & BENEFITS

$21.26- $22.77 per hour plus $6/ECE Wage Enhancement for those who qualify, depending on skills and experience level. 6% vacation pay and paid sick time 5 days per year. Opportunity to participate in the Pension Plan, Professional Development Opportunities. Submit resumes and covering letters.
