Experience hands-on design and development within Canada’s premier particle physics laboratory. We are looking for a passionate student to design a recoil particle-identification detector at TRIUMF. You will work alongside experienced researchers, gain practical skills in CAD and 3D printing, and enhance your understanding of astrophysics. This position not only provides academic growth but also encourages social interactions among fellow students on the UBC campus. Key Responsibilities:
- Create design concepts for an advanced detector
- Collaborate with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers
- Maintain a log of project progress and testing
- Test and characterize the detector with radioactive sources
- Integrate components into the DRAGON accelerator system Requirements:
- Enrolled in physics or engineering physics program (1-2 years)
- Experience in programming (Python or C++)
- Familiarity with spreadsheets and document processing tools
- Knowledge of Mathematica is a plus
- Interest in design and 3D printing techniques Be part of a team-oriented team shaping future breakthroughs in particle physics.
