Consultant – Mining Engineering

Location/Work Arrangement: Remote from anywhere in Canada, with flexibility to travel occasionally for client meetings, project site visits, and team collaboration.

About the Opportunity

Our client is an established international mining engineering consulting firm with a growing presence in Canada. Their multidisciplinary team works with mining companies across the project lifecycle, providing practical, innovative, and data-driven solutions across a range of commodities, mining methods, and jurisdictions.

As their Canadian consulting practice continues to grow, they are seeking a Junior Mining Engineering Consultant to join their team and work alongside experienced mining engineers, technical specialists, and consultants on a diverse range of mining projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career mining professional who is looking to build both their technical engineering and consulting experience while gaining exposure to different mining operations, clients, commodities, and project environments.

Position Overview The Junior Consultant will support a variety of mining engineering and technical consulting assignments , with exposure to mine planning, mine design, scheduling, production analysis, operational improvement, and technical studies.

Working under the guidance of experienced mining engineers and consultants, the successful candidate will contribute to project deliverables, analyze technical and operational information, and help develop practical recommendations for clients.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys analytical problem-solving, working with data, learning from experienced professionals, and applying engineering knowledge to real-world mining challenges .

Key Responsibilities

Mining Engineering & Technical Support

- Support mining engineering consulting assignments across open pit and underground mining operations .
- Assist with mine planning, mine design, production scheduling, and technical analysis.
- Support production analysis and evaluation of mining performance.
- Assist with operational improvement initiatives and technical studies.
- Analyze mining and operational data to evaluate different scenarios and identify potential opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development of practical, data-driven engineering recommendations.
- Assist experienced engineers with technical assessments, calculations, and project deliverables.

Project & Consulting Support

- Prepare technical information, calculations, reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for client deliverables.




- Participate in internal project meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
- Support client-facing assignments under the direction of senior consultants and project leaders.
- Work collaboratively with mining engineers, geologists, and other technical specialists.
- Manage assigned tasks effectively while maintaining accuracy, quality, and project timelines.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of consulting methodologies, tools, and technical best practices.

Professional Development

- Learn from experienced mining consultants and technical specialists across a variety of projects.
- Develop consulting, technical analysis, communication, and client-management skills.
- Build exposure to different commodities, mining methods, and operating environments.
- Take increasing responsibility for technical work as experience and capability develop.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline .
- Approximately 3+ years of experience in mining operations, mine engineering, or mining consulting.
- Exposure to one or more of the following areas:
- Mine planning
- Mine design
- Mine scheduling
- Production analysis
- Operational improvement
- Mining engineering analysis
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Experience Candidates with exposure to any of the following will be considered an asset:

- Both surface/open pit and underground mining environments.
- Mining engineering consulting or project-based work.
- Industry-standard mine planning and scheduling software.
- Technical studies or feasibility-related work.
- Preparing technical reports or engineering documentation.
- Presenting technical information or findings to internal or external stakeholders.
- Working within multidisciplinary engineering or consulting teams.

Travel & Work Environment The successful candidate should be comfortable with:

- Working remotely from anywhere in Canada.
- Occasional travel for client meetings, project site visits, and team collaboration.
- Working with multidisciplinary technical teams across different locations and jurisdictions.
- Adapting to different client environments, mining operations, and project requirements.
