HireLoft Recruitment is retained by a privately held, profitable B2B services business in downtown Toronto to hire a Financial Controller.

Our client has scaled quickly across the Canadian market and the finance function is being built out to match. The role reports to the VP Finance and owns the close, the statements, the reconciliations, internal controls, the annual audit and HST filings, plus budgeting, forecasting and the analysis that goes to senior leadership.

What you will own

- Day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including accuracy and timeliness of reporting
- Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, prepared and reviewed
- Month-end and year-end close, start to finish
- Review of balance sheet reconciliations covering bank, credit card, prepaids and accruals, and resolution of anything that does not tie
- Internal controls and accounting procedures, maintained and improved
- Compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policy
- The annual audit, working directly with external auditors
- Monthly HST filings
- Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, with recommendations that reach senior leadership
- Cash management and financial planning support




- Process improvement and system enhancements that make the function faster
- Coaching, mentoring and performance management for the accounting team

What we need to see

- CPA designation
- 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Solid working knowledge of IFRS and ASPE
- Full ownership of a close cycle in a prior role
- ERP experience and advanced Excel
- People management or mentoring experience, with examples
- Comfort in a quick-moving, commercially driven environment where you own the detail

The details

- $120,000 to $130,000 base, plus benefits
- Full time, permanent
- On-site five days per week in downtown Toronto
