WHERE YOU COME IN
We are looking for a Data Platform Specialist to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics & Insights, you will build and maintain the trusted data foundation that supports fundraising, marketing, reporting, segmentation, and organizational decision-making. This hands-on role works at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, and stakeholder problem solving.
This role can be based anywhere in Canada and is a full-time, hybrid, permanent position. The hiring range for this role is $64,000 to $75,000.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot data pipelines across Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Data360, DonorDrive, Microsoft Fabric,
external files, and third-party platforms.
- Develop and optimize Fabric Lakehouse, Data Factory, notebooks, and data engineering workloads, including automation of manual data preparation and refresh processes.
- Design and maintain scalable bronze, silver, and gold data layers, data models, fact and dimension tables, semantic models, and curated reporting datasets.
- Develop datasets and data assets supporting Tableau, KPIs, forecasting, segmentation, campaign analysis, personalization, and organizational reporting.
- Develop audience segmentation datasets, supporter profiles, Data Extensions, SQL activities, automations, and integrations to enable trusted donor and supporter data activation.
- Clean, standardize, validate, document, and monitor donor, campaign, donation, contact, and engagement data, including identity resolution and deduplication.
- Maintain source-to-target mappings, business rules, refresh schedules, data limitations, and documentation supporting privacy, security, stewardship, and responsible data use.
- Partner with fundraising, marketing, finance, business applications, and analytics teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Define and maintain trusted metrics for donor counts, revenue, retention, acquisition, engagement, campaign performance, forecasting, and lifetime value.
- Other duties, as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post secondary education in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, analytics engineering, business intelligence, or another data focused role.
- Experience with modern cloud-based data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
- Experience building and supporting data pipelines and integrating data from multiple systems and platforms.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or charitable organization is considered an asset.
- A clear Criminal Background Check is required.
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week) with occasional requirement to work outside of traditional office hours.
Physical/Mental Effort
- Work under pressure of tight deadlines, with a high-volume workload, and with multiple demands & changing priorities.
