Electrical Engineer - EIT / Intermediate / Senior The Opportunity
Rightway Recruitment is supporting the search for an established engineering consulting client in Victoria, BC that is looking to add an Electrical Engineer to its growing team. This opportunity is open to candidates at the EIT/Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels, with responsibilities, project ownership, and compensation aligned with experience and professional designation.
Our client has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering services to long-term clients across Vancouver Island. Their team supports complex and meaningful projects within the healthcare, government, and utility sectors, ranging from smaller system upgrades through to major projects valued at $300M+.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys practical problem-solving and wants exposure to the complete project lifecycle, from initial studies and design through construction, testing, and commissioning. Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & Design
- Prepare engineering studies, technical calculations, and electrical designs.
- Design electrical, communications, and security systems.
- Develop drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Prepare electrical cost estimates and support project budgeting.
- Provide practical technical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Project & Construction Support
- Support projects from initial concept and design through tender and construction.
- Conduct field reviews and review shop drawings and contractor submissions.
- Assist with change management and construction-phase administration.
- Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings both online and on site.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to meet project deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Develop relationships with established clients throughout Vancouver Island.
- Take increasing ownership of technical and project responsibilities as experience develops.
Project Scope
Our client works across a diverse portfolio of electrical engineering projects, from smaller system upgrades to complex multidisciplinary projects valued at $300M and above.
Project exposure may include:
- Hospital electrical master planning.
- Electrical energy centres and emergency power systems.
- Electrical, IT, communications, and security infrastructure upgrades.
- Operating rooms, acute care units, medical imaging suites, and mental health units.
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
- Utility-customer high-voltage vault conversions.
- Complex upgrades within occupied facilities.
Engineers have the opportunity to work across systems including power distribution from 120 V to 25 kV, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and security systems.
What You Bring
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Required: Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. within Canada.
- Relevant electrical engineering/design experience aligned with one of the following levels:
- EIT / Junior: 0-4 years.
- Intermediate: 4-7 years.
- Senior: 7-10+ years.
- Experience with electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and/or security.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable electrical standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and practical problem-solving skills.
- Required: Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable vehicle for periodic travel throughout Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island.
- Assets: Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, DIALux, BC Hydro standards, healthcare electrical standards, or practical electrical/trades experience.
You do not need to be an expert in every system or software platform. Our client values strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, practical problem-solving ability, and a willingness to continue learning.
Working Environment
- Full-time position based in Victoria, BC.
- Approximately 37.5 hours per week, with typical office hours of 8:30 AM-5:00 PM.
- Combination of office-based engineering/design and periodic field work.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is based on experience, skilled designation, technical capability, and level of project responsibility:
- EIT / Junior: $65,000-$90,000 annually.
- Intermediate: $90,000-$110,000 annually.
- Senior: $110,000-$130,000 annually.
- Starting at 4 weeks of vacation accrued annually.
- 5 paid sick/personal days.
