Electrical Testing Technologist 1

Number of positions: 1 Job Location:

Hours of work: Full time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident

Annual salary: $75K - $92K

Position Highlights

Perform testing, research and analysis utilizing their electrical proficiency. Develops and writes technical reports from analytical conclusions.

What you'll do

Undertakes testing and applied research using various tests and analysis utilizing their electrical proficiency (or more specific discipline); develops modified and/or novel procedures and equipment for new or unusual problems.

Develops and writes technical reports incorporating conclusions based on test and analysis results. Develops and writes instructions for safe use and handling of equipment and materials.

Troubleshoots, repairs and calibrates a wide variety of electronic/electrical test equipment, related mechanical components,

data acquisition/control systems and chemical analyzers.

Liaises with clients, potential clients and others to execute tests for the laboratory. Discuses and explains costs and time involved in test procedures.

May be required to provide /technical leadership/direction to employees.





Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job. This includes performing duties across disciplines in a job at the same or lower-level job group.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

Excellent working knowledge of analysis and testing procedures for a variety of electrical and electronic components and equipment.

Good working knowledge of how to apply failure analysis testing to a variety of electrical and electronic components and equipment.

Good knowledge of the operation, manufacturing processes, machining and related construction techniques for electronic equipment.

Excellent knowledge of related testing standards and procedures.

Good working knowledge of how to calibrate, maintain and repair related electrical and electronic testing instrumentation and equipment and applying accepted testing standards.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working knowledge of how to interpret and adapt high voltage/high power mechanical laboratory testingprocedures.

Good working knowledge of high voltage/high power testing and analysis procedures, testing standards and quality assurance principles.

Ability to modify existing test methods to perform unique tests or achieve different results.

Good knowledge of circuit analysis.

Good technical report writing skills.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Good organizational and planning skills.

Basic marketing skills.

Good knowledge of related safety and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations.

Basic skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical ability to perform the job.

Ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Working Conditions

Works continuously under controlled laboratory conditions (such as fumes, smells and hazardous materials).

Occasional requirement to work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions. Regular exposure to ongoing tests and noise. May perform a variety of tests in which explosions are required.

Exposure to slips and falls.

Extended periods of time during the day spent on feet while performing tasks.





Occasional lifting of heavy weights (up to 50lbs).

Occasional requirement to work at heights and in confined spaces.

If there are no fully qualified applicants, candidates who do not meet the experience requirements may be considered as

Electrical Testing Technologist 1 Trainees.

Applicants who meet all the experience, training, and education requirements for the Electrical Technologist role will be given priority. If there are no fully qualified applicants, candidates who meet all the educational requirements may be considered as Technologist Trainee.

Trainee applicants with demonstrated relevant experience may be given partial credit towards the four (4) year Powertech

Technologist training program.

The starting salary for applicants at the Trainee level is currently $ 75,994 per annum. The four-year trainee program includes salary increases every six months and upon successful completion the approximate annual salary will be $

92,570.00, not including overtime.

Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be required as a pre-condition to employment.
