Role Description The Logistics Dispatcher is a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC, responsible for coordinating daily transport operations for fresh and frozen food deliveries. This role involves planning and assigning routes, dispatching drivers, and monitoring shipment progress to ensure on-time, temperature-controlled delivery. The dispatcher communicates with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve scheduling conflicts, and handle unexpected issues such as delays or equipment problems. They maintain accurate records in logistics systems, verify that documentation meets regulatory and food safety requirements,
and adjust plans in real time based on traffic, weather, and operational priorities. The role also includes analyzing route efficiency, supporting compliance with company policies, and contributing to continuous improvement of dispatch procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in transportation or logistics coordination, preferably in temperature-controlled or food-related freight.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, clients, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with dispatch or fleet management software, basic computer skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets), and comfort working with digital records.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritizing multiple requests and adapting to changing schedules.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, especially when handling delivery issues, route changes, or service disruptions.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety practices, and best practices for handling fresh and frozen food products is an asset.
- Ability to work on-site in Montreal, QC, in a fast-paced environment, including occasional extended hours or shift flexibility as needed.
- Relevant education or training in logistics, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
