Job Title: Plumber

Reports to: Supervisor, Facilities Performance

Salary: Band 6 ($91,418 - $102,452)

Type: Permanent, Full Time

Closing Date: September 30, 2026 The Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Performance, this position is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and effective operation of plumbing, heating, drainage, and water distribution systems at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

A key focus of the role is monitoring and assessing system performance to identify developing issues, prevent failures, and recommend effective, practical solutions that support operational continuity, regulatory compliance, asset reliability, and water-system integrity. Working collaboratively with other maintenance team members, the Plumber contributes to the successful completion of assigned tasks within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) environment, supporting timely, accurate, and proactive maintenance operations across airport facilities.

Responsibilities include: Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize airport plumbing and mechanical systems, including domestic water distribution, sanitary and storm drainage, plumbing fixtures, pumps, tanks, hot-water generation and storage systems, heating systems, lift stations, and backflow-prevention devices

Conduct routine inspections, testing, servicing, and preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, applicable codes and standards, and industry best practices

Respond to plumbing and mechanical service calls, diagnose equipment and system failures, and complete repairs while minimizing operational impacts and maintaining service continuity

Install, modify, and upgrade plumbing, heating, drainage, water-distribution, and related mechanical systems, including supporting infrastructure renewal, equipment installation, and commissioning activities

Assess and prioritize work orders based on asset conditions, operational impact, safety risks,



regulatory requirements, and available resources

Accurately document work orders, inspections, testing results, repairs, asset conditions, corrective actions, time, materials, and parts usage within the CMMS

Interpret and apply technical manuals, drawings, specifications, plumbing codes, water-quality requirements, and other technical documentation

Coordinate with other trades, Facilities teams, airport departments, contractors, suppliers, and service providers to complete routine and emergency maintenance activities

Provide technical guidance and on-the-job support to apprentices, trades helpers, Facilities Maintenance Generalists, and contractors

Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, schedules, equipment, materials, and asset performance based on technical expertise, field observations, and operational requirements

Ensure all work complies with applicable safety requirements, regulatory standards, airport procedures, and operational requirements

Participate in safety meetings, training programs, certification maintenance, and ongoing competency-development activities

Perform other related duties as assigned Selection Criteria include: Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber certification A minimum of five years of related experience in industrial, commercial, institutional, or operational facilities

Ability to obtain and maintain City of Winnipeg Backflow Prevention Tester certification

Strong knowledge of plumbing, heating, domestic water distribution, sanitary and storm drainage, pumping, lift-station, hot-water, and backflow-prevention systems





Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex plumbing and mechanical systems and determine appropriate maintenance and repair methods

Experience interpreting and applying technical manuals, drawings, specifications, plumbing codes, and other technical documentation

Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document and manage work orders, inspections, maintenance activities, asset information, and parts usage

Demonstrated experience with welding, soldering, brazing, and other pipe-joining methods.

Experience with Direct Digital Control systems, Building Management Systems, underground utility locating and marking, and estimating

Ability to assess and prioritize work using sound technical judgment while considering safety, operational requirements, regulatory compliance, and asset condition

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and work effectively with colleagues, contractors, suppliers, and operational stakeholders

Valid Class 5 driver’s license Ability to obtain and maintain a “D” Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (D/AVOP) Gas Fitter Class A or B license is considered an asset

Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting more than 25 kilograms or 55 pounds, climbing, kneeling, crouching, working at heights, and working in confined spaces and varying weather conditions Work with us! Highly competitive salary
