Position Overview The Family Resource Facilitator: Perinatal, Early Years, and Parent Support plays an integral role in facilitating community-based family programs, parent-child play groups, and responsive perinatal programming. Grounded in family support principles, relational practice, and early learning frameworks, this role provides welcoming, educational, and navigational support to expectant parents, growing families, and young children.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

- Demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm for supporting expectant parents, infants, and growing families through relational, non-judgmental community practice.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, parent-child play group delivery, or community program coordination.
- Practical knowledge of early child development principles and the ability to design responsive, emergent play invitations and learning opportunities for young children.
- Grounded understanding of family support principles and participant-focused service delivery (foundational orientation and training provided).
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills across diverse family constellations.
- High degree of self-direction, organizational skill, and the ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries.
- Residency: Must currently reside in Prince Edward Island.

Preferred Qualifications and Assets

- Degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, including Early Childhood Education, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Childbirth Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, or a related human services field.
- Certification and/or documented experience as a Childbirth Educator, Postpartum Educator, or Doula. (Family Place will fully fund formal Doula training through a recognized institution for the successful candidate if not already certified).
- Current, evidence-based knowledge of pregnancy,



physiological labour and birth, postpartum recovery, lactation and infant feeding, newborn care, and perinatal mental health.
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification (Level 1, 2, 3, or Supervisor). Paid training pathways leading to early childhood certification levels are also supported.
- Experience preparing nutritious snacks or meals for group programs within a childcare, community kitchen, or food service environment.

Mandatory Certifications and Operational Requirements

- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check: Current and clear check required prior to commencement (organizational verification letter provided upon offer).
- Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C or Infant/Child): Current certification, or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire (fees covered by the organization if required).
- Food Safety Certification: Valid approved Food Handler certificate, or commitment to complete certification upon hiring (fees covered by the organization if required).
- WHMIS: Current certificate or willingness to complete during onboarding (fees covered by the organization if required).
- References: Three satisfactory professional references.
- Schedule and Hours: The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30/5:00 p.m. Schedule flexibility is required to facilitate occasional evening or weekend workshops, perinatal groups, or community events as program needs require.
