About the role

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Finance (DOF), the Finance and Capital Asset Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining day to day financial records, track/manage capital and physical assets in support of operational excellence and organizational strategic direction.

Job Responsibilities:

· Administer and monitor the financial systems to ensure accountability and accuracy.

· Create and maintain a centralized asset inventory including but not limited to buildings and contents, vehicles, furniture, tangible assets and all equipment owned by JHSS.

· Track assets lifecycle and responsible in assets additions and disposals.

· Analyze asset condition, replacement costs and prepare capital budget.

· Ensure that all home and vehicle insurances are up to date.

· Maintain fixed assets schedule and amortization.

· Work and coordinate with leadership team for capital asset planning, procurement, acquisition and maintenance.

· Work with Homebase and Homebase hubs for financial processing and capital asset management.

· Prepare financial and budget reports for homebase and homebase hubs.

· Communicate and process claims/invoices from the Hubs on a timely manner.

· Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records by verifying supporting documents/receipts.

· Respond to Manager and Director queries with regards to AR/AP, grants, and other financial transactions.

· Follow-up with vendors, Managers, and Directors on invoices and payment issues.

· Assist in annual audit and budgeting process.

· Support the DOF on tax filings and deadlines.

· Support the DOF on all grant reporting – creating and maintaining an accurate tracking system to ensure grant report deadlines are met and ensure the appropriate reporting is completed within the grant guidelines.





· Maintain the daily finance and capital operations of Provincial Office.

· Other duties required by the Director of Finance.

Knowledge, Skills and Assets:

- Knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.
- Knowledge and understanding of compliance with the designated Risk Management policies of the National John Howard Society.
- Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
- An understanding and commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the John Howard Society.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Knowledgeable in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, GL Modules and Capital Asset Management.
- Experience in QuickBooks is an asset.

Excellent communication and ability to work with others.
- Above average attention to detail is required for this position.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.

Qualifications: A combination of the following:

- University degree in a related field.
- 2+ years work experience in accounting and capital management; a combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Criminal Record Check.
