Grand River Early Learning Academy is looking for a Cook to join our team. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with consistent daytime hours — making it a great fit for someone who wants predictable work while still being available for school drop-off and pick-up.
We’re a busy child care centre serving children from infants through school age, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking, is organized, and can keep up with a busy kitchen.
What you’ll be doing:
Preparing daily meals and snacks for our children
Following our centre menus and recipes
Preparing meals while accommodating allergies and dietary restrictions
Ensuring allergy/restriction meals are properly labelled and handled safely
Maintaining a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen
Washing dishes and cleaning food preparation areas and equipment
Following food safety and sanitation procedures
Communicating with classroom staff regarding meals and dietary needs
Keeping meal service running smoothly throughout the day
We’re looking for someone who is:
Reliable, dependable and punctual
Comfortable working independently
Organized and able to manage multiple tasks
Comfortable preparing food in a busy environment
Familiar with food safety and proper food handling
Comfortable working around children A positive team player
Previous cooking or food-service experience is an asset. Child care experience is not required.
Food Handler Certification A Food Handler Certificate is mandatory for this position, but you do not need to have your certification before applying or interviewing.
The successful candidate must obtain their Food Handler Certification as part of the hiring/onboarding process.
The schedule:
Monday–Friday | 9:30 AM–3:30 PM
30 hours per week. Consistent daytime hours. No evenings. No weekends.
