This is a hands‑on field leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge of milling equipment, the ability to lead and hold crews accountable, and a proactive approach to planning, productivity, and safety. The Superintendent ensures grinding work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Client specifications.ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute milling operations in alignment with project schedules, drawings, and Client requirementsGet operations started effectively through advanced planning of manpower, equipment, trucking, and sequencingAttend planning and coordination meetings to align grinding operations with paving, traffic control, and project teamsSet transparent expectations for grinding crews regarding production, safety, and qualityOversee multiple grinding crews including operators, labourers, sweepers, and forepersonsTrack crew hours in the field and ensure accurate time reportingHold crews and individuals accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and productivityProvide leadership,
coaching, and direction to field personnelBe hands‑on when required, including operating milling equipmentSupport crews directly to resolve field issues and maintain productionEnsure equipment is set up correctly for depth, grade, and profileMonitor equipment recovery to manage performance, location, and utilizationCoordinate equipment usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimize downtimeCommunicate equipment needs or issues to maintenance and operations teamsEnsure all milling work meets Client and contract specificationsAlways drive and hold people accountable to Miller’s safety policies and proceduresManage work in live traffic and night operations safely and effectivelyOther duties assignedQualifications5+ years’ experience in road construction, with strong milling / grinding backgroundConstruction related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience is preferredProven experience supervising crews in a Superintendent or General Foreperson capacityAbility to operate milling equipment and lead from the fieldStrong understanding of MTO standards and other Client specificationsExcellent organizational, leadership, and communication skillsComfortable working long hours, nights, and weekendsStrong commitment to Safety & QualityValid G driver’s licenseCompensation DataTargeting $90,000 to $123,000 annual base salary.EEO StatementMiller is an equal opportunity employer.
