Knapper Sports Center is looking for a reliable, hands-on Head Server – Co-Manager to help run and grow the bar at our Saint John centre.

This is more than a serving position. You will combine bar service with staff supervision, day-to-day administration, event development and community outreach. We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, working with people and turning ideas into action.

Initially, approximately 20–25 hours per week will involve bar service, with the remaining hours dedicated to management, administration, events and business development.

Your responsibilities

Bar operations and team management

- Provide bar service during leagues, junior activities and special events.
- Coordinate bar staff, schedules, shift coverage and training.
- Handle cash, prepare reports and organize deposits.
- Keep records organized for bookkeeping and prepare payroll information for bar staff.
- Manage inventory, purchasing and stock levels.
- Keep the bar and customer areas clean, organized and safe.
- Support the centre’s overall operations when needed.

Events and business development

- Work with our Hockey Operations Manager to develop birthday parties, corporate events and activities beyond regular league play.
- Suggest new offerings and ways to improve the customer experience.
- Build relationships with nearby businesses and workers to attract regular customers beyond hockey activities.
- Help assess opportunities to open the bar on additional nights.
- As operations expand, help identify staffing needs, recruit additional staff and organize schedules.
- Represent Knapper Sports Center at local business events and Chamber of Commerce activities.

What we’re looking for

- Previous experience in a bar, restaurant or customer service role.




- Strong organizational skills and a reliable approach to work.
- Confidence taking initiative, making decisions and resolving day-to-day issues.
- The ability to supervise staff and work well in a busy sports environment.
- Comfort handling cash, inventory and basic administrative tasks.
- An interest in meeting local businesses, building relationships and developing new opportunities.
- A genuine desire to help build the bar into a business of its own—not simply operate it during hockey games.

Schedule This is a full time position of approximately 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

Our adult leagues currently run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with a Friday league starting shortly. Weekend hours will include junior activities, birthday parties and other events.

The schedule may evolve as the bar develops. You will work with management to plan staffing and coverage for any additional opening hours.

Compensation

Two hourly rates apply, depending on the work performed:

- Bar service hours: $19 CAD per hour, plus tips.
- Management, administration and business development hours: $25 CAD per hour.

The initial weekly schedule will include approximately 20–25 service hours, with the remaining hours allocated to management-related responsibilities, for a total of approximately 40 hours. Benefits and other employment conditions can be discussed during the interview process.
