Maple Ridge

Pitt Meadows Plumbing and Mechanical Systems (PMP) has been a leader in the plumbing and mechanical industry for over 40 years. We pride ourselves on being a family-owned and operated company. We specialize in pre-fabrication, modular systems and installation of large-scale residential, commercial, institutional, educational, and medical design-build plumbing and mechanical projects.

Our company is growing! We are looking for a seasoned Health & Safety Lead to join our team. This is a long-term, full-time employment opportunity with lots of room for growth. This role is the safety function’s senior presence in the field, leading and developing the CSOs, ensuring standards are met on our projects and in the shop, acting decisively when the work is unsafe, and stepping in for the Health & Safety Manager when required.

This is a practical, hands-on role, not a head-office position.

Health & Safety Lead key responsibilities include:

- Coaching teams to work safely.
- Working alongside supervisors, general contractors, clients and senior leaders.
- Providing support for the Health & Safety Manager when required, carrying the program with the same authority and judgment.
- Leading, coaching and developing the CSOs.
- Supporting the planning and control of high-risk activities — fall protection, confined space, hot work, energy isolation, critical lifts and mobile equipment.
- Supporting the preparation of Job Hazard Analyses for high-hazard work, alongside the CSOs and the Health & Safety Manager.
- Spotting patterns across projects that point to risk, and following corrective actions through to completion.
- Helping projects and operating companies stay audit-ready, and supporting internal and external audits.
- Performing other duties as required

- A track record of leading in the field and earning credibility with construction crews and leadership.

- Experience leading or developing safety personnel such as CSOs or supervisors.

- Experience supporting serious investigations, COR certification, and internal and external audits.

- Solid working knowledge of the Workers' Compensation Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and WorkSafeBC policy and guidelines.

- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation in other provinces, or the demonstrated ability to build it quickly.

Certifications
- A recognized safety designation or certification — CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, CSO, an Occupational Health, Safety & Environment certification, or equivalent — or the experience and ability to obtain (or be in the process of obtaining) the appropriate certification.

- A red seal trade certification or a strong field/trades background would be a real asset.

- Occupational First Aid and train-the-trainer certification are considered a solid asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint; experience with Procore or a similar platform would be an asset.

- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel between sites, shop facilities and other provinces are required.

Compensation: $90,000-$105,000/year (DOE) + 5% RRSP + Vehicle Allowance + Phone allowance + Gas Card + Full Benefits (100% Company-Paid) + Life Insurance + LTD + AD&D.;
