Position: Hospitality Associate
Employment Status: Seasonal Part-Time (minimum 24 hours per week, up to 39.5 hours per week)
Hourly Wage Rate: $23.26 per hour
Anticipated Normal Work Schedule
Monday to Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Note: This schedule is subject to change. The incumbent may be required to work weekends and evening hours. The schedule may also require a one-hour unpaid meal break depending on operational needs.
Summary
As a Hospitality Associate, you will represent McMaster University Hospitality Services and be responsible for supporting food production, customer service, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent McMaster University Hospitality Services in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate proficiency in knife handling; a knife skills test may be required.
- Perform daily setup and production activities for La Piazza, including preparation of salads, vegetables, fruit, sandwiches, and other products as required.
- Maintain predetermined production levels.
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas, including scheduled equipment and unit cleaning.
- Ensure all products are stored, retrieved, and stocked appropriately and that stock rotation procedures (FIFO) are followed.
- Perform all duties of any job classification at the same or lower level, as required to support customer service operations.
- Lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Organize and coordinate work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Perform effectively under pressure.
- Multitask with efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in a high-volume production environment is required.
- Solid communication, reading, writing, and English language skills are required.
