This hands-on role is ideal for a detail-oriented accountant who thrives on managing accounting operations, preparing reports, and supporting financial processes while contributing to a collaborative and growing team.1. Position OverviewThe Senior Accountant will support the Finance Director in stabilizing the finance function and restoring the month-end close process. This role requires a hands-on accounting professional capable of working through historical transactions, reconciling accounts, and strengthening financial processes.2.



Purpose of the RoleThe immediate focus of this role will be to:Complete bank reconciliationsBuild key balance sheet schedulesSupport restoration of monthly financial reportingSupport ongoing financial reporting and month-end close activities3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Transaction ProcessingWork with external accounting firm to accelerate transaction postingPost outstanding vendor invoices, payments, and receiptsReview historical transactions to ensure accurate classificationEnsure completeness and accuracy of financial recordsB. Bank & Balance Sheet ReconciliationsPerform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve differencesReconcile key balance sheet accounts and prepare schedules including Prepaid expenses, accruals, loan balances and interest calculations, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accountsC. Month-End Close SupportAssist the Finance Director in restoring the month-end close processPrepare journal entries and supporting documentationEnsure reconciliations are completed and documentedSupport preparation of monthly financial reportsD. Process Improvement & ControlsIdentify gaps in accounting processesImprove documentation and accounting workflowsSupport implementation of stronger financial controlsQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA candidates are preferred5–8 years of progressive accounting experienceStrong experience with reconciliations and month-end closeExperience dealing with historical clean-ups or accounting backlog preferredExperience with ERP systems (Business Central)Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts)
