Matrix HR is recruiting experienced Journeyman Plumbers for an upcoming commercial construction project at Scotia Place in Calgary.

Candidates with a background in hydronic systems are preferred. This is an opportunity to join an experienced mechanical team and contribute to a major commercial construction project.

Location: Calgary, AB

Duration: Approximately 2 months, with potential for extension

Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with potential overtime

Pay: $44.80 per hour

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and site instructions

- Install, repair, and maintain commercial plumbing systems

- Install water supply, drainage, sanitary, storm, and related piping systems

- Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install various types of pipe

- Select and install appropriate pipe, valves, fittings, and fixtures

- Assemble and secure pipe sections and fittings

- Test piping systems for leaks using air and water pressure gauges

- Install and connect commercial plumbing fixtures

- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures

- Complete installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work

- Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments and follow all site safety procedures

- Report unsafe work practices or conditions to the supervisor

- Work collaboratively with apprentices and other trades

- Mentor and support apprentices when required

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Requirements





- Valid Plumber Journeyperson Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal

- Previous commercial plumbing experience

- Hydronics experience is preferred

- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and regulations

- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications

- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment

- Strong installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair skills

- Ability to complete work independently and as part of a crew

- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude

- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a physically demanding construction environment

- Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety

- Ability to mentor and provide direction to apprentices

Required Safety Certifications

- Construction Safety Training System, CSTS

- WHMIS

- Fall Arrest

- Lift Training

- Travel may be required depending on project needs.
