Kitchen Lead

- - - KITCHEN LEAD

Department: Food Services Position Type: Full-Time Year-Round (32hrs/week)

Position Summary

Oversees the daily kitchen operations and provide support to kitchen staff in delivering high quality food. This position is responsible for coordinating staff and food preparations, monitor inventory and waste management, and maintain safety and sanitation standards. The kitchen lead supports training and development of kitchen staff and works closely with management to maintain a positive, organized and productive kitchen environment.

Specific Accountabilities

- Food preparations (e.g. chopping vegetables, prepping sauces, portioning products, etc.)

- Food is being prepped and cooked in a timely manner

- Proper usage of kitchen appliances and equipment

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols (e.g. cleaning floors, garbage disposal, sanitation)

- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with team members and guests

- Preparing an order list and receiving orders on delivery

- Maintain kitchen organization by effectively delegating tasks and shift responsibilities

- Monitor inventory and waste management with the support of direct management

- Ensure break coverage for staff and that checklists are being completed





- Provide training, guidance and ongoing support to kitchen staff

- Adhere to the Food Services Code of Conduct

- Perform other responsibilities when required as directed by the Food Services Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Supervisor

Skills, Interests & Values

- Stamina, flexibility and self-discipline to work long hours as required

- Ability to remain composed when handling multiple tasks and when faced with unexpected problems and stressful situations

- Ability to work in a fast-paced consumer driven environment and make reasonable decisions quickly

Working Conditions

- Evening, weekend, late-night and holiday shift work

- Ability to work in standing positions for long periods of time

- May lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

- Safely operate, handle and maintain kitchen appliances and equipment

Qualifications & Requirements

- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

- Advanced Food Safety Certification

- Experience in leading a team of 3 or more

- Experience in a fast-paced kitchen workplace

- Banquet & Catering experience is an asset

- Reliable transportation is required
