Job Summary:

To design and develop automation equipment / fixtures and related components within specified parameters in an efficient and functional manner. To assist in the continued advancement and automation of our custom designed machinery.

Job Responsibilities:

- Managed complete equipment projects from concept through design, manufacturing, installation and start-up.
- Coordinated machine builds with shop-floor teams, fabricators and external subcontractors.
- Supported equipment testing, troubleshooting, commissioning and customer-site installation.
- Delivered projects within established schedules and budgets.
- Worked with suppliers to review purchased components and automation requirements.
- Prepared equipment manuals and maintained organized project documentation.

Preferred industry experience

- Experience with blow-moulding or injection-moulding equipment.
- Designed custom machines used to trim, finish, weld or assemble plastic components.
- Familiarity with Visual Manufacturing or a similar ERP/MRP system.
- Practical understanding of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, pneumatics, motors, actuators, sensors and robotic systems.

- Able to work independently and manage several design priorities.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working closely with customers,



suppliers and shop-floor personnel.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized and disciplined about documentation.

Job Qualifications:

- 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in industrial automation or custom machinery.
- At least 2 years of qualified 3D CAD experience using NX or SolidWorks; prioritize candidates with strong NX experience.
- Experience designing one or more of the following:
- - Robotic cells
- Conveyor systems
- Welding equipment or fixtures
- Automated assembly machinery
- Plastic-part finishing machinery

- Experience producing concepts, detailed designs, assembly drawings and manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to create and maintain bills of materials using CAD and Excel.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and prepare mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
- Experience performing engineering calculations and design FMEAs.
- Knowledge of machine guarding and applicable industrial safety standards.
- College diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline
- Willingness to travel to customer, supplier and plant locations.
