Established Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose & Throat) office in Chilliwack looking for a personable and professional Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our team. The successful applicant would be the second MOA in the office. There are generally three busy clinic days per week where a high volume of patients are seen.
Two days per week are typically dedicated to administrative duties and other office maintenance and practice management responsibilities. Training will be provided by the existing MOA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule patient appointments and management of the physician’s schedule
- Co-ordinate with the Operating Room, Ambulatory Day Care, and Medical Imaging at Chilliwack General Hospital and with other healthcare facilities
- Patient registration and management of the flow of patients though the clinic
- Communicate with patients and respond to a high volume of requests by phone and e-mail
- Facilitate communication between patients and the physician
- Liaise with external medical offices by phone, fax, and e-mail
- Manage incoming and outgoing consultation requests and reports via fax
- Create and manage patient charts and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Create invoices and process payments for uninsured or non-MSP-insured patients and for uninsured services
- Communicate with MSP or other insurance providers about billings and payments
- Medical device and equipment cleaning and reprocessing
- Examination room cleaning and preparation
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and shipments
- Manage office stock and inventory
QUALIFICATIONS AND ASSETS
- Completion of a college program in Medical Administration
- Experience as a medical office assistant is an asset
- Experience with a surgical or specialty practice is a greater asset
- Knowledge of some basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of Plexia or other EMR system is an asset
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member

Pay: $21.50-$25.50 per hour
