Salary Range: $140,000.00 To $160,000.00 AnnuallyPosition OverviewSagamok Anishnawbek is seeking a energetic and experiencedSenior Administrative Officer (SAO)to lead and oversee the administrative, financial, and human resource operations of the organization.Reporting administratively to theGiimaaand accountable toChief and Council, the SAO plays a key leadership role in guiding the strategic direction, governance, and operational excellence of the organization. The SAO ensures programs, services, and administrative functions are delivered efficiently and in accordance with Sagamok laws, policies, and relevant federal and provincial legislation.This role requires a collaborative and strategic leader who can foster strong partnerships, support Council priorities, and guide the organization toward sustainable growth and effective service delivery for the Sagamok community.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipAdvise Chief and Council on organizational activities, priorities, and strategic initiatives.Promote transparency, ethical governance, and responsible stewardship.Lead the development and implementation of the organization’sstrategic plans and priorities .Provide leadership and guidance to directors and senior management staff.Facilitate collaboration between leadership and administration.Coordinate and oversee programs, services, and administrative systems across the organization.Support negotiations and partnerships that advance community interests.Program and Policy DevelopmentOversee the development and implementation oforganizational policies and procedures .Ensure compliance with Sagamok laws, bylaws,
and applicable legislation.Provide research and analysis to support policy development and governance decisions.Maintain and improveadministrative quality management systems .Ensure compliance with funding agreements and regulatory requirements.Financial Management and ReportingOversee financial management systems, controls, and reporting frameworks.Work with the Director of Finance to develop and monitorannual budgets .Manage operating and capital budgets in accordance with theFinancial Administration Law .Identify and pursue funding opportunities that support organizational goals.Ensure accurate and timely reporting to leadership, funders, and partners.Identify organizational risks and develop mitigation strategies.Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, agreements, and policies.Safeguard financial, physical, and informational assets.Coordinate reporting and corrective actions for compliance issues.Human Resources and Organizational LeadershipOversee workforce planning, staffing structures, and organizational development.Support the Human Resources Committee in fulfilling governance responsibilities.Lead recruitment, mentoring, and development of senior management staff.Implement performance management systems and quality management practices.Foster a culture ofaccountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement .Communication and PartnershipsBuild and maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, and stakeholders.Represent Sagamok Anishnawbek at meetings, events,
and forums.Facilitate collaboration between departments and community services.Support community engagement initiatives and strategic planning processes.Ensure clear and transparent communication with leadership, staff, and community members.QualificationsEducationPost‑secondary degree in Business Administration or a related fieldExperience7–10 years of senior management experienceProven leadership experience in strategic planning, operations management, and organizational developmentExperience managing complex operations includingfinance, policy development, and human resourcesKnowledge & SkillsStrong understanding ofIndigenous governance and community administrationKnowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation and regulatory environmentsUnderstanding ofAnishnaabe history, culture, values, and governanceKnowledge of colonial history and its impacts on Indigenous communitiesExcellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship‑building skillsStrong analytical and problem‑solving abilitiesExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAssetsFluency in theAnishnaabe languageRequirementsValid Ontario Driver’s Licenseand reliable vehicleClear Criminal Record Check (CPIC)within 6 monthsAbility to workflexible and extended hourswhen requiredMaintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Sagamok policiesThis position is primarily office‑based withinSagamok Anishnawbek, with occasional travel required for meetings, training, and community engagement activities.The role involves working in a dynamic and complex environment requiring strong leadership, adaptability, and collaboration across departments and community stakeholders.The successful candidate will be subject to asix (6) month probation period .How to ApplyInterested applicants are invited to submit:#J-18808-Ljbffr
