Length of Contract: 7 months with option to convert to salary at end of term

Overview

We are seeking a self-directed Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) to maintain the fixed plant and process equipment, and prepare for recommissioning across our remote Minto Mine site in Yukon Territory. The role spans the concentrator, the crushing and grinding lines, the water treatment, water conveyance networks and pumps, the shops and camp mechanical systems, and the compressed air, fuel, and propane infrastructure that keeps the site running. Much of this plant is being brought back from care and maintenance, so the work ranges from condition assessment and preservation of idle assets through to overhaul, installation, and re-commissioning ahead of restart.

We want a tradesperson who can diagnose unfamiliar equipment with limited support, engineer a safe solution when the part is days away by road, and document the work properly afterward.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

- Install, align, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fixed plant and process equipment across the concentrator, crushing line, grinding line, and water treatment facilities
- Perform precision maintenance — shaft and coupling alignment using dial indicators and laser alignment tools, bearing installation and removal, and drive belt and chain tensioning
- Maintain conveyor systems, including belts, idlers, pulleys, lagging, scrapers, take-ups, and drive assemblies
- Maintain and rebuild a variety of pumps used to convey water for the water treatment plant, processing facilities, and between reservoirs across site.
- Service and rebuild slurry, froth, process water, and chemical dosing pumps, including impeller, liner, seal, and packing replacement
- Maintain crushing equipment, including jaw and cone crusher wear parts, mantles, concaves, feeders, and discharge chutework
- Inspect, adjust, and repair grinding line components, including mill liners, trunnion and pinion bearings, gear guards, and lubrication systems
- Service flotation cells, thickener rakes, agitators, mixers, and concentrate filtration equipment
- Maintain compressed air, potable and process water, fuel, and propane distribution systems, including glycol boilers, blowers, dryers, receivers, valves, and piping
- Support the water treatment and wastewater treatment plants — metering and dosing pumps, filter vessels, reverse osmosis skids, clean-in-place systems, and associated piping, valves and pumps
- Rig and lift plant components safely using overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, hoists, slings, and man lifts
- Fabricate, cut, and weld to repair or modify plant components, chutework, guarding.
- Work from mechanical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals




- Carry out preventative maintenance routines and condition monitoring — vibration, temperature, and oil sampling — to reduce unplanned downtime
- Assess idle equipment coming out of care and maintenance, define refurbishment scope, and support re-commissioning ahead of restart
- Identify required parts and provide accurate part numbers for ordering when available, recognizing long lead times and seasonal road and barge access
- Apply lockout and tagout, confined space, working at heights, and hot work procedures without exception, and participate in hazard identification and incident investigation
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history, and report equipment status to the Site Supervisor
- Support and mentor apprentices, operators, and contractors working on site plant

Site fixed plant and equipment includes:
- Metso AF5-36MN-24 apron feeder, stockpile reclaim hopper, mobile stacker, and plant belt conveyors
- Grinding line — mill drives, liners, bearings, and lubrication systems
- Outotec rougher flotation cells (3), Westpro recleaner cells (6), cleaner cells (4), and scavenger cells (4)
- Larox Ceramec CC-30 ceramic concentrate filter and new filter press installation
- Concentrate thickener and rake, agitated concentrate and reagent tanks, and on-stream analysers
- Froth, tailings, thickener, and process water pumps, and plant piping and valving
- P&H; double girder bridge crane (66-foot span, 10-ton capacity) and shop gantry and jib cranes
- Water treatment plant — Veolia clarifier, Yardney multimedia filters, cartridge filters, and two Pure Aqua BW-900K reverse osmosis trains with clean-in-place system
- Flocculant and chemical dosing systems, metering pumps, and chemical feed tanks
- Wastewater treatment plant — influent pumps, chemical dosing pumps, surge tanks, and ultraviolet disinfection
- Cleaver Brooks CB-100-70 diesel-fired glycol boilers, and boiler feed system
- Atlas Copco GA30 screw air compressors, air receivers, and Ingersoll Rand air dryer
- Hibon rotary blowers (200 horsepower)
- Caterpillar XQ2000 generators and site power distribution mechanical systems
- Camp and kitchen mechanical systems, potable and hot water plant, and building heating systems
- Maintenance shop equipment, including welders, hydraulic press, drill presses, pipe threaders, and oxyacetylene torch sets

Qualifications & Experience

- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification, or a provincial or territorial journeyperson millwright ticket with eligibility for Red Seal endorsement
- Machinist experience an asset




- 3 years of post-ticket experience maintaining fixed plant and process equipment
- Previous experience in sawmills and in mining operations is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated creative problem solving — able to diagnose unfamiliar equipment, devise safe and practical repairs, and keep plant running with limited parts and technical support on hand
- Solid precision maintenance skills, including alignment, bearing work, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and drive systems
- Welding and fabrication ability (shielded metal arc welding and flux-cored or gas metal arc welding); pressure welding (B Pressure) an asset
- Confident reading mechanical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals
- Experience with crushing, conveying, flotation, pumping, filtration, and compressed air systems
- Rigging and overhead crane experience; formal rigging certification an asset
- Experience commissioning or re-commissioning equipment following shutdown or care and maintenance an asset
- Familiarity with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and disciplined work order and record keeping
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fly-in fly-out site setting, with sound judgment when supervision and technical support are not immediately available
- Valid driver’s license (Class 3 with air brakes an asset)
- Strong commitment to safety and to working within the Yukon Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and site procedures
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA-1) preferred

Pay: $50.00-$52.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 84.0 per week
