The Dacks Lab at the University of Alberta is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Scholar in a hybrid role focused on evolutionary cell biology. This research combines bioinformatics with experimental work using model organisms.

This position, based at North Campus Edmonton, concentrates on the pre-LECA evolution of adaptin protein complexes through Ancestral Protein Reconstruction. Candidates will engage in innovative research that uncovers the evolution of vesicular trafficking mechanisms in Dictyostelium discoideum, supported by high-performance computing and advanced lab facilities.

Key Responsibilities:



• Research adaptin protein complexes and their evolution • Utilize Ancestral Protein Reconstruction techniques • Execute bioinformatics and experimental analyses • Collaborate using wet-bench and microscopy facilities • Work closely with the Department of Medicine

Requirements: • PhD in cell biology or related field • Knowledge of bioinformatics and experimental biology • Experience with Dictyostelium discoideum • Strong analytical and computational skills • Capacity to work in a hybrid workplace
