Job Summary
BrainLab Psychology Group is a growing multidisciplinary psychology and mental-health practice providing assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults. We are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team as an independent contractor and provide virtual occupational therapy services to clients across Ontario.
This position is well suited to an Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions, executive functioning, sensory processing, and functional concerns affecting everyday life. We are looking for a clinician who is comfortable practising independently while collaborating with psychologists, psychotherapists, nurse practitioners, and other members of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
The Occupational Therapist will primarily work with clients experiencing concerns related to ADHD, autism and neurodivergence, executive functioning, sensory processing, emotional regulation, school or workplace functioning, daily living skills, and other barriers affecting participation and independence.
Referrals may include clients who have recently completed psychological or psychoeducational assessments and would benefit from practical support translating assessment findings into strategies for everyday life.
The position is fully virtual, with scheduling and caseload structured around the clinician's availability and client demand.

Compensation: $90-$110 per hour
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments within the clinician's scope of practice and professional competence
- Assess functional concerns affecting daily living, school, work, relationships, routines, and community participation
- Evaluate executive functioning, organization, planning, time management, task initiation, attention, and related functional skills
- Assess sensory processing and sensory-regulation needs when clinically appropriate
- Identify environmental, cognitive, behavioural, emotional, and functional barriers affecting participation and independence
- Develop individualized, evidence-informed intervention plans based on client goals and functional needs
- Provide occupational therapy intervention for children, adolescents, and adults, as appropriate to the clinician's experience
- Support clients with ADHD, autism and other neurodevelopmental presentations in developing practical strategies for everyday functioning
- Provide intervention related to executive functioning, routines, organization, productivity, self-management, and independent living skills
- Develop sensory and environmental strategies when appropriate
- Support school, postsecondary, and workplace functioning, including recommendations for accommodations and environmental modifications
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and, when appropriate, parents or caregivers
- Assist clients in translating psychological assessment findings and recommendations into practical strategies
- Monitor progress and modify treatment plans according to client needs and treatment response
- Identify concerns requiring referral to psychology, psychotherapy, medicine, psychiatry, physiotherapy, or other appropriate services
- Maintain clear, comprehensive, accurate, and timely clinical documentation
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, referring providers, schools, employers, and other members of the client's care team when appropriate and with appropriate consent
- Collaborate with psychologists and other BrainLab clinicians when clients are receiving multidisciplinary services
- Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries and exercise sound professional judgment in a virtual-care environment
- Adhere to all applicable professional, ethical, privacy, documentation, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
- Eligible to provide occupational therapy services independently to clients located in Ontario
- Demonstrated experience providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention
- Experience working with mental-health, neurodevelopmental, cognitive, sensory, or functional concerns
- Strong understanding of the functional impact of ADHD, autism, anxiety, mood concerns, and related presentations
- Experience developing individualized, practical intervention plans
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to identify when referral or consultation with another healthcare professional is appropriate
- Comfortable working independently and making clinical decisions within professional scope and competence
- Strong documentation, organization, and case-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable providing assessment and treatment through secure virtual platforms
- Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary practice while maintaining independent clinical responsibility for occupational therapy services
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Several years of clinical occupational therapy experience
- Experience working with ADHD and executive-functioning concerns
- Experience working with autistic and otherwise neurodivergent clients
- Experience with sensory processing and sensory-regulation concerns
- Experience working with children and adolescents in addition to adults
- Experience supporting school, postsecondary, or workplace functioning
- Experience developing accommodation, environmental-modification, or functional recommendations
- Experience working with anxiety, emotional regulation, burnout, or other mental-health concerns affecting occupational performance
- Experience working alongside psychologists, psychotherapists, physicians, nurse practitioners, or other mental-health professionals
- Previous experience in private practice, outpatient mental health, paediatrics, community practice, rehabilitation, or a comparable clinical setting
- Experience providing virtual occupational therapy services
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to provide occupational therapy services to clients located in Ontario
- Must maintain all required professional registration, professional liability insurance, and other requirements associated with independent clinical practice
- Reliable access to an appropriate private environment for confidential virtual appointments
- Reliable high-speed internet and ability to use electronic clinical systems effectively
- Commitment to timely documentation and responsive communication regarding shared clients
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, evidence-informed practice, and high-quality client care
