Job Summary The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all engineering activities performed by contractors and design consultants, ensuring that the pipeline systems, HDD crossings, cathodic protection systems, and electrical infrastructure comply with Company standards, international codes, and project specifications. The role ensures technical integrity throughout design, construction support, and commissioning phases.
Main Responsibilities
- Engineering Management
- Manage and coordinate all engineering disciplines including pipeline, HDD, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and cathodic protection.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with Company standards, project specifications, and applicable international codes.
- Monitor engineering schedules and ensure timely issuance of design documents.
2. Technical Oversight
- Provide technical review and guidance for:
- Pipeline routing and alignment
- HDD crossing designs
- Cathodic protection systems
- Electrical power supply and distribution
- Pipeline rehabilitation works
- Ensure constructability reviews are carried out before construction.
3. Interface Management
- Coordinate technical interfaces between:
- EPC contractors
- Design consultants
- Company engineering teams
- Construction supervision teams
- Resolve engineering conflicts and technical issues arising during project execution.
4. Construction Engineering Support
- Provide engineering support during construction activities.
- Review technical queries, RFIs, and site engineering changes.
- Approve engineering change requests and technical deviations.
5. Standards and Compliance
- Ensure engineering work complies with:
- Project specifications
- Applicable international pipeline standards
- Safety and environmental requirements
- Support HAZID, HAZOP, and constructability reviews.
6. Documentation Control
- Ensure engineering documentation is properly reviewed, approved, and controlled.
- Verify as-built documentation and engineering dossiers prior to project close-out.
7. Risk Management
- Identify technical risks related to pipeline construction, HDD operations, CP systems, and electrical installations.
- Implement mitigation measures to prevent engineering failures or delays.
Educational Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, with emphasis on Cross product pipelines.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in engineering or technical leadership roles on large-scale pipeline projects.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft 365 Suite and industry-recognized management software
- Demonstrated experience managing EPC from Owner PMC contractor status.
- Experience working on projects in Nigeria preferred but other international locations are acceptable.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of Underground cross-country pipelines, including HDD, project development, engineering design, construction sequencing, and commissioning.
- Expertise in interface management, technical risk management, and change management processes.
- Proficiency in engineering management systems, project management tools, and technical reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead senior technical professionals and influence across organizational boundaries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to Owner.
- Ability to work collaboratively while confidently driving accountability and alignment across the PMC team and Owner stakeholders.
- High ethical standards and commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and responsible project execution.
Pay: $90.00-$110.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50.0 per week
