JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centered framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, works in a team-based environment and is responsible for providing practice leadership for Music Therapy across the continuum of acute, rehabilitation, community and residential care across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Duties include defining practice standards, ensuring adherence to practice standards, supporting clinicians to gain competencies to support excellent patient care and ongoing collaboration with operations leaders, qualified practice and regional clinical education, and other partners within Vancouver Coastal Health. Works under the direction of the Allied Health Practice Director and in collaboration with the professional practice leadership team to enact priorities, provide leadership in areas related to Music Therapy practice, research and education and ensure organizational practice guidelines and education modules support standardized, evidence-based practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education &

Experience

Completion of a program recognized by the Canadian Association of Music Therapy plus accreditation with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.

Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT) and Music Therapy Association of BC (MTABC).

Seven (7) years' recent, related experience including three (3) years' previous supervisory experience in Music therapy, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of Music Therapy theory and scope of practice within a client and family centred model.





Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy

Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based Music Therapy practice related to all clinical areas and populations.

Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Comprehensive knowledge of leadership approaches and strategies

Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.

General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.

Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.

Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally protected care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, work direction and training.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.

Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, leader, mentor, coach and facilitator.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.

Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.

Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.

Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.





Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and implement new projects.

Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas.

Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information

Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal car may be required.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
