Employment Prospect - Program Assistant

Post Majority Support Services Program – Treaty 8 Urban Child & Family Services The Post Majority Support Services program provides programming and services for young adults (ages 18-25). We are currently hiring a Program Assistant.

The Program

Assistant reports to the Program Coordinator and will support various administrative and programming tasks such as preparing resources and information, setting up and collaborating with Treaty 8 staff and external contacts, coordinating events, workshops, courses and various program activities for young adults in the Post Majority Support Services program. This position will be based out of Edmonton and will require travel.

Responsibilities:

- Build relationships and provide positive reinforcement for client behavior.
- Assist with organizing and coordinating activities for clients.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for programs, workshops and training.
- Support program coordinator when providing overnight or weekend programming and activities.
- Responsible for transporting clients for any programming and activities.
- Will be responsible for hauling required equipment and supplies for off-site activities.
- Supervise and work with clients on and off site, including during any outings the clients attend.
- Observe, analyze and record client behaviors




- Comply with safety and prevention measures.
- Implement emergency protocols, crisis interventions and non-violent physical interventions as needed.
- Prepare required reports for programming and events.
- Promote health and well-being through the lens of an Indigenous world view
- Travel may be required
- Other duties as required

Qualifications:

- Diploma or Degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience
- Valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance
- Provide 3-year driver’s abstract
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector and Child Intervention (Welfare) Record check (dated within 3 months upon hiring)
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations communities, culture and language an asset
