Position Summary
Dymech is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator / Junior Engineer to support the successful execution of custom metal fabrication projects from concept through production and delivery.
This role combines engineering, project coordination, and manufacturing support responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, fabricators, shop personnel, suppliers, and customers to ensure projects are accurately designed, properly documented, efficiently scheduled, and delivered on time.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in fabrication, manufacturing processes, production planning, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Coordinate fabrication projects from quotation handoff through production and final delivery.
- Assist with project scheduling, tracking milestones, and monitoring progress within the fabrication shop.
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials, work orders, and quality records.
- Communicate project requirements and priorities between engineering, production, purchasing, and management teams.
- Support procurement activities by obtaining supplier quotations and coordinating material purchases.
- Monitor project budgets, labor utilization, and material costs.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide status updates.
Engineering & Technical Support
- Assist in the preparation and review of fabrication drawings, manufacturing packages, and technical documentation.
- Develop bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and production documentation.
- Support design development and engineering calculations under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Review customer requirements and specifications to ensure manufacturability and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with shop personnel to resolve fabrication challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in documenting engineering changes and managing revision control.
Manufacturing & Fabrication Support
- Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to ensure accurate interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Support production planning and workflow coordination to maximize shop efficiency.
- Assist with quality inspections and verification of fabricated components.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action processes when quality issues arise.
- Help improve manufacturing processes, shop layouts, workflows, and production documentation.
- Support shop floor problem-solving and continuous improvement projects.
Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with customers regarding project requirements, schedules, and technical questions.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and outsourced services.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, quotations, and project reports.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and business partners.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- EIT designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
Experience
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, industrial production, or engineering environments.
- Co-op, internship, or hands-on shop experience is highly valued.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding details, and engineering specifications.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication processes including welding, machining,
forming, cutting, and assembly.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and quality control principles.
- Knowledge of welding symbols, fabrication standards, and material properties is considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
