About Elevate Wellness
Elevate Wellness Inc. is a licensed cannabis processing company located in Port Coquitlam, BC. We manufacture cannabis edibles, softgel capsules, pre-rolls, vapes, and other products for our own brands and contract-manufacturing customers.
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Junior Quality Control and R&D; Technician to support our Quality, Production, and Research and Development teams.
This is a junior, entry-level position. The successful candidate will work under the direction of experienced Quality and R&D; personnel and will be expected to carefully follow approved instructions, formulations, procedures, specifications, and company policies. Training will be provided.
About the Role The Junior Quality Control and R&D; Technician will support routine quality-control activities on the production floor and assist the R&D; team with basic day-to-day tasks.
The Quality Control portion of the role includes measuring and recording process parameters, conducting basic product and packaging inspections, reviewing production paperwork, and completing quality records.
The R&D; portion includes preparing materials and samples, accurately weighing ingredients, assisting with product trials, recording observations and results, cleaning equipment, and completing related documentation under the direct instruction of R&D; scientists or other authorized personnel.
This position does not independently develop formulations, change process parameters, approve specifications, release products, or make final Quality or R&D; decisions.
Quality Control Responsibilities
- Measure and record in-process parameters such as temperature, time, weight, dimensions, pH, water activity, appearance, product counts, and yields.
- Complete batch records, quality-control forms, checklists, logbooks, and sample labels accurately and at the time the work is performed.
- Conduct basic visual inspections of products, packaging, labels, lot codes, and production activities.
- Review production paperwork for completeness, legibility, required signatures, and obvious errors or missing information.
- Collect, label, store, and deliver in-process and finished-product samples according to approved procedures.
- Confirm that measuring devices are clean, suitable for use, and within their calibration period before use.
- Assist with pre-operational inspections, line-clearance checks, sanitation verification, and room and equipment status checks.
- Report unusual results, process deviations, documentation errors, damaged materials, or possible contamination immediately to the supervisor and Quality team.
- Organize, file, scan, and retrieve quality records and controlled documents.
- Assist the Quality team with audits, inspections, investigations, inventory checks, and other assigned activities.
R&D; Support Responsibilities
Under the direction of R&D; scientists or other authorized personnel, the employee will:
- Assist with the preparation and organization of materials, ingredients, equipment, utensils, samples, and documents required for R&D; trials.
- Weigh and measure ingredients according to approved formulations and written instructions.
- Prepare, label, organize, and store R&D; samples as instructed.
- Assist R&D; scientists with small-scale product trials, testing activities, and sample preparation.
- Record ingredient quantities, process parameters, observations, results, and other trial information accurately and in real time.
- Take basic measurements during R&D; trials, including weights, dimensions, temperatures, pH, water activity, appearance, texture, and other assigned parameters.
- Assist with the preparation of samples for internal evaluation, stability studies, laboratory testing, or customer review.
- Clean and sanitize R&D; equipment, utensils, tools, and work areas before and after trials.
- Help maintain R&D; sample inventories, ingredient inventories, retain samples, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with organizing R&D; documents, trial records, formulations, specifications, and sample information.
- Notify the R&D; scientist or supervisor immediately if an instruction is unclear, a measurement is outside the expected range, or an error or unusual result occurs.
- Perform other basic R&D; support activities as assigned and within the employee’s training and authorization.
Procedures and Compliance The employee is expected to:
- Follow all approved Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, formulations, specifications, Positive Production Practices, Good Documentation Practices, safety rules, and company policies.
- Perform tasks exactly as instructed and within the limits of their training and authorization.
- Ask questions before proceeding whenever an instruction, calculation, formulation, specification, or expected result is unclear.
- Obtain authorization before making any change to an approved process, formulation, ingredient quantity, equipment setting, specification, or document.
- Record all measurements and activities accurately, clearly, and at the time the work is performed.
- Immediately report mistakes, missing information, deviations, unexpected results, equipment concerns, or possible contamination.
- Protect confidential company, customer, product, formulation, and regulatory information.
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in food science, chemistry, biology, quality,
manufacturing, laboratory studies, or a related field is an asset but not required.
- Previous experience in cannabis, food, pharmaceutical, natural health product, laboratory, or regulated manufacturing environments is an asset but not required.
- Comfortable using scales, thermometers, pH meters, water-activity meters, callipers, and other basic measuring instruments.
- Comfortable performing routine calculations, including weights, percentages, ratios, counts, and unit conversions.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and electronic data entry.
- Able to read, understand, and carefully follow written procedures, formulations, specifications, and instructions in English.
- Able to complete repetitive measurements and documentation accurately and consistently.

Working Conditions
- This is an on-site position in a regulated cannabis production and product-development facility.
- The position requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- Employees must wear required personal protective equipment and follow gowning, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
- The work environment may include cannabis odours, food ingredients, cleaning agents, machinery noise, and temperature-controlled areas.
- The employee may be required to safely move routine samples, ingredients, supplies, and records.
- Some overtime or shift flexibility may occasionally be required depending on production and R&D; needs.
