Your Opportunity
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the experienced perioperative Recovery Room RN has focused skills in a variety of services that would include: Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. Both scheduled (elective) and unscheduled (emergency) surgeries are performed, and the position requires the incumbent to do on-call shifts. Working with surgery patients during the post-anesthetic phase, the incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude. Excellent communication, teaching, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are required. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the incumbent must have the ability to recognize and assist with management of post anesthesia/surgical problems.
The Active Treatment
Center (ATC) Recovery focuses primarily on Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. The ATCOR is a busy and fast paced environment and does over 15,000 cases a year.
Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit,
the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
Current experience in a high acuity PACU required. Adult ICU or Critical Care experience within the past 5 years. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment.
Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Ability to demonstrate valuable communication skills that promote respect and a positive team environment. Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgement.

Preferred Qualifications
ACLS training. Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook Email. Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) certification for Peri-Anesthesia Nursing. Only candidates who submit a current resume will be considered for an interview.
