Position overview A specialized healthcare clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its team as a Clinical Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse. The ideal candidate is flexible, collaborative, and comfortable working in a rapid-paced clinical environment. Working closely with gastroenterologists and other members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Clinical IBD Nurse will play an important role in coordinating and optimizing care for patients living with inflammatory bowel disease.

Training will be provided as part of the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with gastroenterologists and the multidisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
- Support initial patient consultations and independently conduct follow-up assessments within established clinical protocols and scope of practice.
- Assess patient symptoms and concerns in person, by telephone, and electronically, providing appropriate clinical guidance and escalating care when required.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on IBD management, treatment options, medications, and ongoing care.
- Coordinate patient care across disciplines, including referrals to dietitians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other specialists.
- Facilitate timely physician assessment for patients experiencing urgent symptoms or changes in clinical status.




- Initiate laboratory investigations and diagnostic testing in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.
- Administer biologic therapies and monitor patients for treatment response and potential adverse reactions.
- Educate and support patients with self-injection techniques, medication administration, and safe treatment management at home.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and communicate relevant patient information, treatment progress, and care plans across the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), professional standards, and clinic policies.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a recognized institution.
- Current registration and authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in British Columbia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous clinical experience in gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic disease management, or a related specialty is considered an asset.
- IV certification and/or demonstrated IV therapy and phlebotomy skills are considered assets.
- Strong patient assessment, education, and clinical communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team while exercising sound independent judgment within scope of practice.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple patients and competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Compassionate, adaptable, and comfortable supporting patients managing complex, long-term health conditions.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems; experience with TELUS CHR is considered an asset.

Salary: From $90,000+ per year, based on experience and qualifications
