Summary of the Role Responsibilities

Rotary Hospice House and Home Hospice are hiring casual RNs.

Rotary Hospice House (RHH)/Hospice at Home Registered Nurse assess, identify, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care required to assist clients living in the community in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. RNs work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNP Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision, and values of The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society.

Functional Reporting Relationships

- Reports to Nurse Lead and/or Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Liaise with Home and Community Care.
- Reviews client status through methods such as reviewing documentation, care plan, client observation, collateral information, and consultation with other members of the health care team.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for clients using a framework for nursing practice. Administers medications, manages basic to complex wounds, catheter insertion (and manages feeding tubes, ostomies and other medically provided devices). Documents in electronic charting program.
- Contributes to individual care plans through methods such as assessing client problems and needs, planning and prioritizing nursing interventions, implementing interventions and reassessing if goals are not met and modifying plan of care based on evaluation.
- Provides nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology and PHC standards and evaluates outcomes, records observations and reports problems and/or changes to designated staff.




- Provides care according to the BC Centre for Palliative Care symptom guidelines.
- Identifies client and family learning needs and incorporates teaching and counseling into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or makes referrals to other identified resources.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to collegial sharing of information, demonstrating and/or providing guidance on related tasks.
- Provides direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life threatening situations.
- Documents information including assessments, nursing care plans, medication administration, client status, and progress and discharge plans in a computerized environment.
- Participates in nursing orientation and shares clinical knowledge.
- Actively participates in direct patient care.
- Directs Care Aides workflow.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Required Licenses, Certificates, and Education

- Registered Nurse with current practicing registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals, BCCNP
- Pallium Canada LEAP Training is required
- Minimum one (1) year’s recent, related palliative nursing care experience in an acute care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Level 1 First Aid
- Ongoing orientation/ training as required.

Pay: $43.52-$58.74 per hour
