Employment Type: Permanent · Full-Time / Part-Time
Location: Northwestern Ontario
About the Role: Join a regional critical care unit supporting the only tertiary hospital in Northwestern Ontario, where advanced ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive therapies converge for the region’s most critically ill patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rigorous ongoing assessments of critically ill patients
- Manage mechanical ventilation, vasoactive infusions, and sedation therapies
- Monitor arterial/central lines and invasive hemodynamic parameters
- Administer high-alert medications with precision
- Collaborate with intensivists, critical care specialists, and the multidisciplinary team
- Provide support and clear guidance to families navigating critical illness
Qualifications — Must-Haves:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing
- Nursing diploma or degree from an approved program
- Current BLS/BCLS certification
- Recent hands-on ICU/critical-care nursing experience, including caring for mechanically ventilated patients
- Experience with arterial/central lines, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive infusions/sedation therapies
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking,
and emergency-response capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS certification
- Critical Care/Coronary Care post-graduate certificate
- Experience with advanced critical-care modalities such as CRRT
Work Conditions: Operate in a highly specialized, low-ratio unit demanding continuous vigilance and analytical precision. Full rotating shift availability (days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays).
