OSSTF - Education WorkersThe Near North District School Boardinvites applications for:1.0 Permanent Indigenous Mental Health Clinician - West RegionEffective August 28, 2025Location: West Region: Parry Sound and Surrounding CommunitiesThe Indigenous Mental Health Clinician is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or a regulated member with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). This position provides culturally based individual and group interventions to NNDSB students who are struggling with social, emotional, and/or mental health challenges that are impacting their well‑being and success at school.Duties:Provide evidence informed and culturally based clinical consultation, assessment, and brief counselling related to student mental health and well‑being, while working collaboratively with parent/guardian(s), school staff and community partnersIdentify and provide support to address the various ways that oppression may be operating and impacting a students life and school engagementProvide crisis consultation and intervention for student mental health and well‑being concernsWork in collaboration with school Administration, staff, and community services in clinically assessing and responding to Threat Assessment protocols in schoolsProvide resource navigation to mental health and/or community agencies for students and/or their familiesWork in collaboration with agencies (e.G. child protection, healthcare, childrens mental health, etc.) in supporting the mental health and well‑being of NNDSB students.Provide support and guidance in the implementation of mental health promotion activities and student voice initiativesMaintain up‑to‑date records involving direct and indirect service to students in compliance with the standards outlined by the OCSWSSW or CRPOContribute to the professional learning/psychoeducation of Board staff, students,



and/or familiesEngage in professional learning development activities as requested by Supervisor and/or the Board that is aligned with system initiatives and/or consistent with the duties of the roleSupport the mental health program referral intake process as neededCarry out other duties as may be assigned by the Mental Health Lead and/or the Superintendent of EducationEducation, Experience, and Qualifications:Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Psychotherapy with registration in positive standing with the Ontario College of Social Work or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is requiredTraining in clinical interviewing and evidence-informed interventions with children and youth is requiredExperience providing various treatment modalities (CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT strategies, etc.,) to children and youth is requiredExperience adapting treatment modalities to be culturally relevant and identity affirming is requiredAbility to support culturally relevant and identity affirming programming to a diverse group of students and parents is requiredExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals is requiredStrong verbal and written communication skills are requiredExperience working in educational settings is an assetExperience leading in‑service training or making public presentations is an assetValid drivers license and reliable vehicle is requiredRate of Pay: $62,008.00 to $75,758.00 annuallyPlease ensure you have uploaded your applicable Educational Diploma(s) and/or Degree(s) to your Apply to Education PortfolioWe actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity.All applicants must be legally eligible to work in CanadaThe Near North District School Board is committed to supporting an inclusive and accessible environment.
