Job Summary
We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and reliable Support Worker/PSW to provide dedicated one-on-one support to a 15-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our client is non-verbal and communicates in his own unique ways; he perks from consistency, predictable routines, and a calm, respectful approach. This role is about more than tasks — it's about building trust, celebrating his strengths, and helping him live with dignity, independence, and joy. The right candidate will be someone who genuinely enjoys working with youth, is comfortable with alternative communication methods, and is committed to person-centred, strengths-based care.
Responsibilities
Provide personal care support as needed, always with respect for privacy and dignity
Support and encourage participation in community outings and social activities
Implement and maintain consistent daily routines and schedules
Engage the client in meaningful, age-appropriate recreational, sensory, and skill-building activities
Provide proactive behaviour support using approved strategies, with a focus on prevention and de-escalation
Ensure the client's safety and wellbeing at all times, both at home and in the community
Support communication using the client's preferred methods (e.g., AAC devices, PECS, gestures,
or other alternative/augmentative communication tools)
Document daily care, progress, incidents, and behavioural observations accurately and in a timely manner
Collaborate with family members, therapists, and other care team professionals as needed
Qualifications
Previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities
Training or experience in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle preferred
PSW certificate or equivalent training/experience considered an asset

Pay: $18.03-$20.00 per hour
